Psalm 123 (NIV)
I lift up my eyes to you,
to you who sit enthroned in heaven.
2 As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master,
as the eyes of a female slave look to the hand of her mistress,
so our eyes look to the Lord our God,
till he shows us his mercy.
3 Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us,
for we have endured no end of contempt.
4 We have endured no end
of ridicule from the arrogant,
of contempt from the proud.
to you who sit enthroned in heaven.
One of the evils in the world today is the prosperity of the wicked,
you see people who openly revile God and do wicked things yet they keep
prospering.
The moment they acquire some millions they feel they have
earned the right to criticise pastors and men of God yet they keep prospering
no matter what they do. This is the ridicule of the arrogant and the contempt
of the proud that the psalmist was talking about in verse 4.
Don't let these people deceive you by their actions and
their attractive lives. There is a vacuum in everybody created by God that only
God can fill that's why they drink and use drugs and get divorced and get
married again, that's why they practice yoga to find inner peace, that's why
they become gay. These people are looking for a replacement for God and they soon
realise that none of those things can replace God.
I just want to encourage you, don't envy them, stay with
your God, your time will come and you will have money, cars, houses and a happy
family and you will not have to do drugs or have multiple women or live a crazy
life to be happy.
You will have all the rewards of the ungodly and more, a
time will come when your neighbour who is richer than you will want to know
your church simply because of the peace and joy that you radiate. Wait on God!
