Faithfulness is rewarding

Ruth 1:16-17 But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.”

Ruth was not a prophet, she was not a warrior, she was a Moabite; the nation called Moab came to be as a result of incest between Lot and his daughters in Genesis 19:35, they got their father drunk and got pregnant by him.

Such was the history of Ruth's people. Ruth had also lost her husband, she was a young widow and she did not have any children for her late husband. The average woman would have wanted to forget the past and not stay with Naomi a depressed, old mother in law who had lost her husband and two sons. Naomi's name means 'pleasant' in Hebrew but she was such a depressed woman that she  changed her name to Mara which means 'bitter'

With all these, Ruth stayed with Naomi, she was willing to die by Naomi's side, it was Ruth's redeeming quality, she had a faithful spirit. It's over 5000 years and we are still talking about this woman from a cursed lineage who became the great grandmother to King David and consequently belongs in the lineage of Jesus.

Learn to stay with your friends and loved ones through thick and thin. Don't be the kind of person who is only available when things are nice, be there through thick and thin. Your wife may not be as beautiful as she was when you first married her, now there are 4 kids and because of that you are looking out, please be faithful. Your husband may not have as much money as he had few years back and because of that you have lost respect for him, please be faithful.

Faithfulness is a fruit of the Spirit and it is one of those qualities God cherishes the most, that's why the bible says that without faith it is impossible to please God. God may have always answered your prayers on time but right now there seems to be a delay and you are contemplating juju, please be faithful.

Faithfulness will never go unrewarded, stay with your marriage till death do you part, be a loyal armor bearer to your mentor, be a filial child to your parents. God will reward you in Jesus name. Amen
